The Olympics is finally here

•August 9, 2008 • Leave a Comment

I just watched the Beijing Olympic opening and I did not like it one bit. I guess is was too artistic for my tastes and when the 2 people started to sing on top of that globe thing I thought my ears would bleed. The sound system was just really bad. Thank goodness I am not the only one who thought that way. This post on the Gossip Hound blog felt the same way I did.

I am finally losing weight!!!!Yah

•August 8, 2008 • Leave a Comment

I am thrilled to report that I am finally losing weight with a low carb diet. I have lost about 6 pounds now in just about 4 weeks. My clothes are feeling less constricting and my husband has called me baggy pants at least 3 times now.

To tell you the truth I was actually thinking about getting some store bought diet pills and I am so glad I didn’t. I would hate to get dependent on something like alli or one of the more recent “miracle” diet pills. Of course you have heard about the alli pill? They have a side affect that even one of their competitors made fun of. I don’t remember if it was an actual commercial but the video showed up on YouTube.

The YouTube video showed 3 women talking about diets and one women said she was taking alli. The other 2 asked her if she had heard about the pill’s side affects. The first women said no and that she had no problems with it. The other 2 then started to tell the first women about the main side affect of losing control of your bowel movements when the first woman farted then excused herself from the table they were all sitting at. The first women was wearing a white dress and when she got up you could clearly see where she had soiled herself.

If that video is not enough to stay away from diet pills I don’t know what is.

I am jealous

My husband recently went on a doctor guided diet. It is a low carb diet and he has lost 20 pounds in 3 weeks. I thought that I might try it too. My results are 3 pounds in 3 weeks. I need to lose a ton more than 3 pounds! I am so jealous of my husband and his success. It seems that my body just will not shed these extra pounds that I have been living with for the past 5 years. I don’t want to have to resort to using the best diet pills I can find. I want to be able just to lose some weight and get fit at the same time.

I have been going out and riding my bike on hilly terrain for about an hour 2-3 times a week. These are 6 miles or more of hills and even though I feel fitter and I have even lost some inches around the middle I still have not lost any more weight. I am so frustrated right now.

Birthday rant

•July 21, 2008 • 1 Comment

My daughter was invited to a birthday party sleep over at a friend of hers. As it turns out, out of the three others that were also invited, my daughter was the only one to show up. That was fine since the 2 of them have been best friends for 4 years now. I had no problem with the birthday party or the sleepover but the next day my daughter informed me that her friend’s dad and his girl friend were taking them to the movies. Again, so far no problem. The problem arose when it cam time to pick my daughter up and she informed me that I should bring $10.00 so she could pay her friend’s dad’s girlfriend back for paying for her to go to the movie with them. Now it came as a shock to me that when someone takes a child as part of a birthday party celebration to have the child pay their own way! I asked my daughter if the movie trip was considered part of the birthday stay and she said yes and she was not told that she would need to bring money for it.

Normally I would not mind pitching in for a treat like the movies if the family was short on cash but this all happened after my daughter’s friend’s dad had told me all about his new job and his pay rate of $35.00 an hour with frequent overtime days and showing off their new RV.

Rant over but I still don’t understand.

Up date on Hubby’s weight

Since the dietitian started him on the low carb diet last week he has lost 9 pounds in 7 days! I hope he can keep the weight off. His goal was to lose 19 pounds in a month. He has 3 weeks to go to lose the next 10 pounds. Then it is back to the dietitian for the diet adjustment.

Interesting comments on this blog – not published

I had a really nice comment a few days ago on one of my blog posts. Unfortunately I had to delete it. Why, you ask, since I said it was so nice? Well the comment praised my blog post and then went on to try and get me to visit a site that sells drugs. I don’t need to have someone visit my blog just to spam me. I would have preferred just a regular comment without the added visit this site for discount drugs. The way this blog is set up – the comments cannot be edited prior to approval so I could not edit the comment to remove the website or the last sentence to edit the drug pushing.

Hubby’s diet

Well the verdict is in, he is on a diabetic diet. Even though he is officially not diabetic yet the doctor and dietitian thought it was best to start him on a low carbohydrate diet ASAP. The good news is that he doesn’t have to take any diet pills or other types of medication. He just has to modify his diet slightly.

I was looking over the information that the dietitian gave him and I was surprised at what he was able to eat and what he was to stay away from. Certain fruits are now off limits because of their high carb levels. Apparently his weight gain is from his body not being able to convert carbs into energy efficiently enough and it turns to fat. Carbohydrates are an energy food and some people cannot convert that type of food into energy, instead it makes them tired or sleepy. I am so glad that he got professional medical help with his weight problem and I recommend that to anyone that wants to lose weight.
