Living on credit cards

I hate to admit it but yes I have lived off of my credit cards in the past. It got so bad that I was using one credit card to pay for another, now that is BAD. That was over 6 years ago and now I don’t have any major cards anymore, just one small store card for the discounts it offers. My husband use to be worried sick over our credit card debt that he now has a permanent ulcer. I am so glad that we don’t have that kind of debt anymore. I am sure you are going to ask what happened but the fact is we sold our house to buy another and paid off all the credit cards in the process. We vowed not to get that far into debt ever again.

Worrying about paying off that kind of debt can ruin a marriage and tear up families. I could tell you that when the bills were paid on time and we had money in the bank I was the happiest person on the earth and my husband saw it in me too. If I was worried about coming up with the money for a bill or didn’t have enough money in the bank just to buy gas or grocery shop – I was a bitch. I would also get very depressed and quite. I would lash into anyone that suggested that we buy something or that my husband “needed” a new tool or pair of pants. When money is tight, and it still is at times, that witchy bitch in me still shows up. The bitch has been a blessing because it keeps spending in check at our house. We pay for items – CASH ONLY. No cash, no buy.

  4. You are absolutely right. Indebtedness can destroy a marriage. My wife and I have been debt-free for almost 10 years now and it has been great. We’ve had to live without a number of luxuries (some consider necessities), but God has provided all we have needed. the quality of our relationship has been greatly enhanced. I highly recommend it.

  5. Smart lady…I am a debt collector (credit cards) – oooh! the stories I could tell!! Cash only is the way to go, if only people would realize this, however, everybody has to have everything NOW. The worst is when you have a customer wanting to pay credit with credit – sorry – not allowed, them thus becoming extremely irate.
